Pierre Kory

aka Dr. Pierre Kory, FLCCC co-founder

Pulmonary and critical care physician who co-founded the Front Line COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance (FLCCC), which advocated for ivermectin and other repurposed drugs as early treatments for COVID-19. His board certifications in internal medicine and pulmonary disease were revoked by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Multiple large randomized controlled trials subsequently found ivermectin ineffective against COVID-19, though Kory and the FLCCC maintain their position.

Biography

Pierre Kory received his MD from St. George's University in Grenada and completed clinical rotations at Weill Cornell School of Medicine. He earned an MPA from NYU and went on to become a respected critical care specialist, serving as medical director of the Trauma and Life Support Center at UW Health and winning a British Medical Association award in 2015 for a textbook on point-of-care ultrasound.

At the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Kory co-founded the Front Line COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance (FLCCC) and became one of the most prominent voices in the campaign to promote ivermectin as a treatment and preventive for COVID-19. In December 2020, he testified before a Senate committee, calling ivermectin a 'miracle drug' with 'miraculous effectiveness' that 'obliterates' viral transmission. The testimony was widely shared and contributed to a global surge in demand for ivermectin.

Kory's scientific credibility was significantly damaged by a series of retractions and expressions of concern attached to his COVID research. In November 2021, the Journal of Intensive Care Medicine retracted a paper he co-authored after it was found to misreport mortality figures, making FLCCC's 'MATH+' protocol appear more effective than it was. In February 2022, the American Journal of Therapeutics issued an expression of concern about a pro-ivermectin systematic review Kory had led, citing suspicions about the underlying data integrity.

By mid-2022, Kory expanded into COVID vaccine misinformation, promoting false claims that vaccines caused miscarriages and fertility problems. In August 2023, the American Board of Internal Medicine notified Kory that his three board certifications were to be revoked for spreading medical misinformation. As of 2024, his certifications are listed as 'not certified, revoked' on the ABIM website. Kory continues to practice medicine and promote his views through his Substack, the FLCCC, and through the book 'The War on Ivermectin'.

MISLEADING

Claims & Debunking

Ivermectin 'basically obliterates transmission' of COVID-19 and is a 'wonder drug' that can prevent COVID if taken.
DEBUNKED

Multiple large randomized controlled trials, including the TOGETHER trial and the Oxford PRINCIPLE trial, found ivermectin provided no significant benefit against COVID-19. The WHO, FDA, and EMA all advise against its use for COVID outside of clinical trials.

COVID-19 vaccines cause miscarriage and disrupt pregnancy at alarming rates.
DEBUNKED

Multiple large-scale studies have found no increased risk of miscarriage following COVID-19 vaccination. The rates Kory misrepresented are consistent with background miscarriage rates of 11-16% in the general population. No causal link has been established.

The medical establishment is suppressing ivermectin evidence so pharmaceutical companies can profit from vaccines.
MISLEADING

This conspiracy theory has been investigated and rejected. Evidence reviews by independent bodies, including the Cochrane Collaboration, found the positive ivermectin studies were low quality, many were fraudulent, and multiple pro-ivermectin papers were retracted for data fabrication.
